NYC – Roosevelt Island

This is the view from the apartment we’ve rented on Roosevelt Island.

There is easy access to the subway but the best way to get over to the city is by tram!

The tram runs along the Queensboro Bridge and the apartment is next door to the station.

The island has a handful of restaurants – a really good Japanese one.  There’s a not so super market too but we found a great market just on the city side of the tram.  It’s under the Queensboro Bridge.

Roosevelt Island has nice walking paths with lots of great views.

That tram is great – never knew of that! As usual, enjoying your pictures greatly!

What an idyllic location and a million dollar view! I recall the days-way back then, when it was called Welfare Island and think at one time there was sanatorium or hospital on the island!

There still are two hospitals on the island. We’ve seen where there is a plan brewing to replace the one just south of the tram with projects by Stanford or Cornell. That would really change things here!
