Willemstad, Curacao

Willemstad is the charming capital of Curacao.  The architecture is Dutch and the pretty pastel colored buildings can’t help but make you smile!

We took a Segway tour! It takes just a few minutes to get the hang of it and is so much fun! We wandered all over town. You can cover a lot of distance pretty quickly.

There is a Floating Market.

An important landmark of Willemstad is the Queen Emma Bridge, a floating pedestrian bridge that spans the Anna Bay.  It swings open over 20 times each day to allow ships to pass through to the port.

Our ship stayed on the outside.  It may not have fit under the next bridge.

The waterfront is picturesque and it’s an especially nice place for a break.

Our walk back to the ship took us past a tall fence decorated with large paintings.  They capture the feel of this island.

It’s easy to see why the people here feel…..

Great photos of such a colourful place. I have read a lot about Curacao and I think it is a place in the Caribbean that I would love to visit. It is like a hybrid of Dutch and Caribbean culture. Thanks for sharing.
