Turin is loaded with museums of all kinds, ancient to modern, full of art, culture and history. Here are two that we visited last fall, during our week in Turin.
The Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile
This is a very modern museum, filled with over 200 cars, lots of multimedia displays and videos, on three floors. One of the first things I learned was that the automobile company Fiat was founded in Turin, and the company’s name comes from Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (Italian Factory of Cars of Turin).
This museum is a must-see for car guys and gals, which I am not. That said, I was pleasantly surprised with the displays and didn’t find it boring after all!
They even had a display of Matchbox cars and a car made out of Matchbox cars.

The Museo Egizio
This is the oldest Egyptian museum in the world, founded in 1824. It houses more than 40,000 artifacts. We saw lots of statues, papyri, and sarcophagi on four floors – we were soon overwhelmed. Our timing didn’t work out for a docent led tour but we certainly could have used one. We did have a guided headset tour, however, and here’s some of what we saw.

It’s an impressive museum even if you never studied Egyptology!

I liked the automobile museum so much more than I thought I would! I think I have some of the same pictures of husband-in-front-of-car that you do.
The guys definitely got a kick out of this museum!
